BARABOO, Wis. — Searchers are still sifting through the woods of rural Sauk County, looking for a 13-year-old boy who has not been seen in over a week.
Lt. Steven Schram from the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office said last Friday that searchers were shifting their approach to finding James Yoblonski, believing the teen may be trying to live “off the grid” as a survivalist.

On Monday, Schram said Yoblonski may have been better prepared to survive in the woods than officials first believed.
“We believe he may be in possession of even more resources than we initially thought, mostly including more food,” Schram said. “Other than that, we continue to investigate, and follow up, and look for more leads and more information.”
Yoblonski reportedly left his home late last Sunday night or early Monday morning in a family vehicle. The vehicle was found along U.S. Highway 12 near Devil’s Lake State Park and searchers have since found multiple campsites and items that may belong to him.
Officials do not believe Yoblonski is a threat to himself or others. Multiple deputies have needed medical attention due to injuries they suffered while looking for the teen.
