Kentucky voters will soon know the candidates who will be vying for their votes in the general election come November.
The marquee race this primary season: the contest between 12 Republican candidates for governor. Candidates have spent millions of dollars and crisscrossed the state in an effort to win over voters for what is expected to be a low-turnout election.
Polling has shown Attorney General Daniel Cameron with a strong lead among GOP voters, but former United Nations Ambassador Kelly Craft has spent millions on television ads for months. Meanwhile, Commissioner of Agriculture Ryan Quarles hopes that rising above the fighting between Craft and Cameron gives him a path to victory.
There are also a number of other races on the ticket, including Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear’s two primary challengers and Republican contests for treasurer, secretary of state and agriculture commissioner.
Overall, turnout in the primary was expected to be light, and rain and storms Tuesday weren’t helping.
